1. CHUS Fellowship for Historical Studies
This Fellowship, inaugurated in 2024, will support various CHUS initiatives to strengthen the Society and help its members. These include a biennial conference; workshops that may result in publications in edited collections, the Chinese Historical Review (CHR), and other outlets; members’ research, publishing, and translation projects; the preservation of CHUS archives and history; and a more comprehensive CHUS webpage to serve as a resource for members’ research and teaching.
This Fund covers the essential operational expenses for the Society. These consist of costs associated with CHR subscriptions for members; CHUS-sponsored panels at the annual meetings of the American Historical Society; CHUS annual registration and tax filing; copyreading for CHR; the CHUS website and other items.
This Fund was established in 2021 to honor the many contributions of Dr. James Gao, a founder of CHUS, after he passed away. The Fund helps support the Society’s award and other important programs.
